There are two things we need to do, 1) Practice- I want a good massage after the Cup; 2) Watch shows- in order to get inspirations, this time, a Salsa show.
Lots of dips and drops, some lifts of course. They did all these very fast. And that's it.
That's Champions' honour dance, should be nice... but I don't see any personality there.
When I watch Rumba, I know it is going to be sexy. The couples seduce each other because this dance of love is all about courtship. The seductive two beats are unique, and it makes Rumba appealing.
When I watch Chachacha, I can see it's the lovers' flirting. The chasses not only enrich the dance but also mark a signature that you can't miss out. It's fast but still have time for applying proper techniques.
When I watch Paso Doble, I anticipate there will be showing off of masculine physique and the presentation of spirit. Figures are not that complicated, the art lies on the revealing of ambition, desire and passion.
When I watch Jive, I see the jumping bugs hop hop hop about. The idea of dancing a step in a quarter of a beat with a lot of kicking, flicking and bumping. Also the humorous and sometimes cheeky expressions make it fun to watch.
When I watch Samba, I indulge myself into the carnival atmosphere. The tempo is exciting, but the dance varies as the rhythm varies; it is fast yet it is demanding.
Ha, Salsa? It is fast. May it show you the energy that the dancers possess. As to me, it's like a function- show you how you can move your body. I mean demonstrating the moves and steps seems to be the aim. MOVE, MOVE and MOVE non-stop! Where is the story behind?
The Ceroc thinks that I like dips and drops, well I do. But when I am dancing, what I seek for is a combination of musicality, presentation, personality and technique. I don't necessarily need a fast dance or dips & drops or lifting & aerials, I need a good dance which is expressive. Ceroc is fine for me because it doesn't need to be fast. The dance feels differently when you have different partners as they bring their own traits.
If you want to dance with me, mind that I can dance fast, but going fast itself should not be the ultimate goal. It is danced because of something you need to tell through the dance.
