Sipur Hatzi-Russi (2006)

**I just pulled the image from Amazon, I was watching another version without subtitles**

The only Hebrew I can manage is Hava Nagila; my Russian is limited to counting from один to три; so you can imagine how it was like to sit 1.5hr for this Israel movie with neithcer English nor Chinese subtitle.

With a bride who is involuntarily marrying someone committing suicide on her own wedding day, Sipur Hatzi-Russi caught me right from the start. The opening is undoubtedly dramatic; however, what makes it differ from the other dance movies I have blogged about is that LOVE in this movie bears a boarder meaning- THIS IS NOT A CHEAP LOVE STORY ABOUT BOY AND GIRL FALLING FOR EACH OTHER.

The story developed around an Israel-Russian boy who found the cross-cultural heritage annoyed his life, unable to find an emotional leak he used to record lives with his DC with which he proved that he would have been a talent just like his father, a photographer. The boy was living in a world of conflict until one day he found a dancing girl appealing. He realized that a trait of loving fine artistic things he took after his Russian mother was drawing him to the learning of the partnered dancing. The battling between the Russian pro dancers, the dismantling and reconciling of the Chen's parents have been interesting too.

Due to the serious subject it is targeting, the tone is never delightful, no one seemed to enjoy life. Grown-up or not grown-up, when they were practicing, rehearsing or competing, none of them was smiling. The cheer at party was like a flash, gone as it caught your eyes. But, this is how the tension is built. Love it.

Well, it is a dance movie I categorized it, dance scenes are all spectacular. Credits should be given to the meticulously choreography- kids are all real dancers! Oh yes that reminds me that I have a personal reason to fall for Sipur Hatzi-Russi: I hope one day my boy can dance like a real dancer. Just like them.

Kid's dancing, cool, I just need to like it.
