Anyway, movie like this is better than many other dance movies,
which mostly screen the fabulous dance performance rather than
working on the plot. Dance scenes in this movie are usually shot when
girls practicing basic steps in classes- you know ballet used to be a
must in a formal school. Well, Posy had some private coaching and
made some elegant moves but that's all. However, even it is not about
extremely awesome dance show, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The thing I
enjoyed was not only the moves, but also the passion. When I see
people dancing with a strong and definite emotion, I can see them
glow. You know the look in their faces touches people even though
they are dancing basics. I always think that the simplicity of
dancing has been ignored. It is a shame, as I believe this
decisiveness makes a dancer an artist of high level.
Dancing is scarce but undoubtedly they are my favourite; however,
it is interesting to see that the movie is not even focused on the
ballerina girl even though the title 'Ballet Shoes'. Rather, it
spends most time on Pauline (Emma Watson), who is talented in acting.
The camera mainly set on how she grew from simple, naive to ignorant
to mature and considerate as her talent got discovered and got job
from acting in a theatre, then on film, and at last was offered a
contract from Hollywood. I like her growing up too. You know, as a
young and successful actress, it is too easy to get blind and
overlook everything. It reminds me that I myself, a not yet
successful dancer, should stay humble.
Overall, it is a good comedy with a happy ending. I like it,
especially when I saw those diligent girls got what the deserve.
