Dreaming of being a ballerina seems right for girls, but dreaming
of being a ballet dancer doesn't seem alright for boys. Being one has
such a girlish dream, our Billy was alienated. The story was about a
boy who did not give up his dream and finally succeed. It sounds like
a fairy tale, because I know, even you are a genius with a lot of
supports around, being a SUCCESSFUL dancer is not easy.
However, fairy tale is not bad sometimes, I always like to watch
movies with positive messages. The reality is already cruel, passion
needs to be reminded and spiced up or it will gradually dissipate,
especially when you know that a dancer does not seem to have a long
lasting enough career. Being a choreographer and a dance teacher may
enjoy a longer year of working; but without being a dancer yourself,
it is less likely that you will have sufficient job to feed yourself
(maybe it is only true in my place). People realize it but still
decide to go after the heart do deserve something.
Even we take this never give up spirit away, I still like it
because it is not a melodrama: the whole story and characters are so
believable. It is absolutely a true story. A boy at that age
attending dance is definitely not accepted by the peer, my own went
to a dance class and was laughed and teased by the whole class as he
was the only boy there. Finally he could not stand it anymore and
quitted. I felt sorry and still felt it's a shame because before
going to the class he was quite okay with dancing but now he hates
it. I never blame him for not loving dancing enough to stay on
because it is me who loves dancing. His own interest has always been
Tae Kwon Do so he is now working to get his black belt grading end of
this year, and he is not yet 8.
Well I felt sad that my own son could not get over the peer
pressure; however, it is always good to know that someone would just
stay on. It is very inspiring.
